I would like to see the Jackets go for help on the blue line, and not rush him like they did Rusty. It may be a good day to look for some trades to teams up against the cap, maybe get some help that way. As far as Manny or Jason I agree I would take either of the 2, even though Manny had a great year I am not sure he is worth the price tag he will want,and Jason is a better finisher as you said…………GO JACKETS

After being shocked at what Shero did last deadline . . . maybe Howson could do something to surprise me. Not saying he’ll make as bold a move, but something has to happen. Even conventional wisdom would suggest a deal will go down.

If the man was willing to deal away our scoring depth during the draft (Zherdev) then I think Scotty-boy just might be willing to part with some of our proven defensive depth (Russell).

Tough to argue with ya, Jake. It seems like the Jackets are only capable of pulling out a win in desperate times. Aside from the fact that Mason is down, they basically have a healthy squad. Why do they win with a group of Crunch and fourth liners, but they can’t win with there regulars?

Maybe it’ll be a wake-up call, maybe we’re doomed for another top 10 pick…

It is easier to make this arguement now that columbus lost a few games and mason is out but it is still valid. The CBJ will not make the playoffs. they always fall apart. plus they face really tough teams for atleast 10 of the last games. (4chi, 3det, 2pit, 1sj) they only recently beat the wings because they had 2 key players suspended. columbus will ride along in 10th place. Everybody will say there only 2 point out of a playoff spot, but I’ll say there 4 point out of last place in the confrence. Columbus won’t make a run for the playoffs with the teams they are facing. Idon’t think they will finish over .500. Its the same as last year they relied on an amazing goaltender performance to carry them into the playoff. when the pascal went down so did the hopes of the team. mason or pascal will have to steal 5 games (basically shutout) against those top rated teams to give the CBJ a chance.

Completely agree on almost all. I’d add Jason Williams as “HOT” for the Jackets right now; he’s had some nice production in a few short games.

Boll is an enigma. The kid can’t fight – my fiancee even recognizes that. I don’t know why they don’t bring up a true fighter: Jon “Nasty” Mirasty. There’s a guy that’d set some spoogras straight!

As for Backman… he just needs to be put down.

I have to agree it’s troubling that Niki hasn’t seen more ice time. Not sure how putting him on a line with Peca and Jake would lead Hitch to not have any trust in them. Peca should keep the kid safe . . . that and the fact he’s got two offensive kids on his wings should give Peca reason to show them he can still keep up with them.

I didn’t consider Mason a Vezina candidate, but it’s hard to argue if he ends up with the best GAA and Save%. If he continues his pace, that should in-turn keep the Jackets in games . . . if they manage to win the majority of those, we should be right their in the mix and Mason in the mix for Hart.

As for Nash, let him mend. I agree he doesn’t need to rush back. Assuming the dwindled lineup stays healthy … the return of Nash could have a premature trade-deadline addition effect on the roster.

Speaking of trades . . . anyone tracking Vinny leaving TB?

You all should know my bias for Pittsburgh, so I am for getting Staal. If the Pens have to lose him, might as well be to Columbus who needs a solid center. Poor Jordan has to be behind Sid and Geno in the ‘Burgh and play third-line center and or winger for one of the top two lines.

Get him in C-bus and he could be a top-line center for a long-ass time. Plus he’s a damn good penalty killer!

Iraq is actually cold up here . . . in the thirties at night. Today is windy so that is a stinker as well.

All I have to say is that if it wasn’t for three rookies!!! This team would be so terrible that you might draw 1,000 fans. By the way…. If we still had Zherdev, he would be the leading scorer on the team with 30 pts.!!! Instead we have Bachman who can’t do shit! And if I see one more frickin’ wrist shot from the point on the power play I’m going to scream. Slap it in on net you’re not going to get wristers through… I’m pissed too! Can’t you tell?
