Azevedo finally gets picked
After getting passed up for two consecutive drafts, Justin Azevedo FINALLY was drafted.
The OHL scoring champion for this year was selected 153rd overall by the LA Kings. Azevedo, a generous 5-foot-7 center had a break-out season this year and there was quite a bit of buzz surrounding where he might end up.
I’m really not surprised to see him go, especially the round that he went (6th). He was going to be a free agent anyway after this draft so there was really no point wasting a low pick on him. Azevedo will not play in the Juniors next year, what more does a 20-year old have to prove against 16 year olds? Look for him to start in the ECHL and make a couple games with the Kings’ AHL affiliate.
If you want to really know what his NHL career will be like, take a look at Briere’s history.
